Revival – Ps Tim Hall

"Keys to revival..."

Episode Notes

Bendigo has had 8 revivals in the past, but the best is ahead.

There is to be a very significant move of God in the golden city of Bendigo in the future.

Bendigo was named after one of the three men in the furnace, but the mother spelt his name differently.

Habakkuk 3:1-5 (NKJV)

A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet on shigionoth (musical term). Hebrew poetry written to music, loud shouting, trumpets

Oh Lord I have heard your speech and was afraid; O Lord, revive your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath remember mercy. God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of His praise. His brightness was like the light; He had rays flashing from His hand, and there His power was hidden. Before Him went pestilence, and fever followed at His feet.

It points ahead to when Christ is going to come back to earth in all of His glory.

It is a picture of revival. First the deep travail of prayer and then God steps in.

Like God stepped in with Saul on the road to Damascus.

What is revival? It is God taking the field and stepping into your circumstances.

It’s God’s invasion of Heavenly power, conviction, glory and might and healing and majesty. It is not the work of anything of man.

It is when man’s work is finished, and God says I will step in now. It’s supernatural, an invasion which comes in suddenly.

So often revivals suddenly happen.

Acts 2:2-4 (NKJV)

2 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Revival is God striking in with power and it is unexplainable

The hardest sinners are suddenly overtaken with something unexplainable and outside their understanding.

If ever the world needs this now with no absolutes.

It is only when God himself comes in such a way as it cannot be understood except that this is God.

Revival is God taking the field and saying I am coming in to do something remarkable. He is coming to take possession of this whole situation.

Bendigo is getting ready to see a great visitation of God. There is a genuine move of God coming that is going to shake and impact the world. We need to get ready for it and prepare for it and do what has preceded other great revivals.

When are the revivals expected?

In the 1870’s after the great fire of Chicago under DL Moody, the city was primed for revival. They had been through a very difficult time in the Civil War and they were very aware of their vulnerability.

When people are feeling vulnerable there is a brilliant atmosphere for a significant revival.

We are living in such a similar circumstance now where people are very much aware of their vulnerability. This makes a brilliant atmosphere for a significant revival.

The first great awakening in America took place under the ministry of Jonathan Edwards. That happened at a time when nominal Christians were very compromised, there was no spiritual life or power. It was a dead church, a time where the people were desperate for a great move of God. Jonathan Edwards preached a message of the fire of hell and brimstone. He preached about the little cord of God that held men back from destruction. Men were screaming for repentance so they didn’t have to go through the fires of hell.

The Welsh revival occurred at a time when Wales was in a terrible state where there was no morality.

Evan Roberts heard Seth Joshua preach with such power that Evan Roberts made a declaration that he would fast and pray and seek God from 13 years of age until the whole nation came under the grip of God. During prayer Evan was taken onto the Mount of Transfiguration and saw the Glory of God. In Evan’s twenties, 70,000 were saved in one month. The Glory of God hung over that nation to a degree where it was reported that the nation was under the hand of God that showed no signs of lifting.

Azusa Street came out of a holiness movement. There was serious racial segregation and violence.

William J Seymour rose up and began to fast and pray and seek God for hours every day. After a time, the Holy Ghost came in such force and might that people were touched by the power of God. They ran meetings night after night in a disused stable. It was so significant that it spread right across the world, even in Australia. It was a sweeping move that came out of the prayers of one black man, William J Seymour. It was such a significant time for the Pentecostal Churches all over the world.

The Methodists were impacted by John and Charles Wesley and George Whitfield. Men of prayer and fasting who prayed night after night seeking God. They shook England, putting churches on virtually every street corner.

The second great awakening in America in the 1800’s, a New York lawyer, Charles Finney was converted and after seeing the state of his nation, began to seek God and fast and pray, gathered men around him who fasted and prayed and sought the face of God. They would go in and seek God in different parts of America until people crossing the state borders would come under the conviction of God.

We need this again we need to see Bendigo shaken by the powerful Hand of God.

Great moves of God have happened in history, can it happen in Bendigo.

Ezekial asked God can these dead bones live? God said prophecy to the bones tell them to come from the east, the west, the north and the south and they rose up and became a great army.

We need to speak to the bones of the people who are away from God and lost to the Kingdom of God. Tell them to rise up and let life come into those bones. God wants to do something in Bendigo beyond anything we can ever imagine. God is preparing this new Church building for one purpose and that is because there is going to be a great influx of people because it is time for Bendigo to be saved. Time for that great move of God to come.

Our condition right now in the world. There has never been an age in history where the cry is for people to rise up in prayer and fasting like we are in right now.

We are in possibly the most serious time I have ever seen in my own lifetime and many would say exactly the same.

It is a time of gross immorality across this planet worse than anything that the Western World has ever seen.

On a global scale there is an anti-God attitude that is rising up.

In America it is so anti-God that churches have been stopped from using school auditoriums for their churches.

A young couple stated that they believe the Bible as regards marriage and are now they are not able to sell their farm produce simply because of their beliefs.

California passed a law that prevented the sale of Bibles because it is a hate book.

Cultural Marxism and Socialism is rampant in virtually every field of the media and music. In the last five years it has accelerated out of control. We are in a critical time that is heading into very dark times if we don’t stand up.

The good news is there is a stirring of prayer and optimism. There are churches that are praying, rising up and saying no, we are coming through this thing into the greatest revival that we have ever known. We will push through this thing.

There is a perfect storm that has risen up to try to halt the progress of the Church, but the Church is standing up and saying we won’t be halted.

Tim challenged the Church in Bendigo to pray, fast and seek God for the greatest breakthrough ever.

Let’s seek the face of God so that in these coming years we will see the face of God for Bendigo to be revived and experience the touch of God. The Golden City will be seen for the Power of God bigger than the greatest gold rush. Truckloads of the power of God will go out from Bendigo and touch the whole world and across the whole nation.

God is preparing us for revival, but He challenges us to deep prayer, to powerful intercession, to powerful prayer and waiting on God for something beyond anything we have ever dreamed.

This is the day for Bendigo, for a huge move of God. It is your day and I believe that you are going to see the new building packed to the doors over and over again and I will stand back in awe thrilled and remembering how things started all that length of time ago to where you are now.

These are great days, let’s get excited in Jesus’ name.

Do you know Jesus as your Lord and Saviour? Are you born again? Do you have a relationship with Him? Come to Jesus and have your feet planted on the solid rock of Jesus. Do you know that your sins have been washed away? Do you know the joy of His glory filling your life? If you would like to know Him, then join me in saying this simple prayer

Dear Lord Jesus I believe that you are the Son of the living God, that you died on the Cross to cleanse me from every sin I have ever committed.

Lord I turn from my sin. I ask You today to help me to walk your way to live for you, please come into my life, fill me with your power, fill me with your life and your presence.

I give You my life today, in Jesus’ name.
