Who Is Jesus?

Jesus Is...

… the Christ. The King who God Himself had promised to send, who would put everything right by setting up a kingdom of justice and love. He is also the Son of God. God Himself, entering the world as a human being, sent from heaven, to rescue us, restore us and reconcile us for relationship with God.

Jesus provided who He was by what He did. He healed people. He calmed storms. He raised the dead. By doing these things, the King was giving a glimpse of life in His Kingdom. A perfect place, with no suffering, fear or death. It is the world we all want.

Jesus came to save mankind without judgement. His plan is to give you life, and life to the full. (John 10:10)

The questions we like to ask about God are endless; “Is God real?”, “Is what we know about Him really true?” and “What does He have to do with my life?”, to list just a few.

The Bible may not answer every question about God – and could even lead us to ask more – but one of the areas the Bible is quite definite is the answer to the question: Who is Jesus?

Jesus commends the apostle Peter’s confession of Him as “the Messiah, the Son of the Living God” (Matthew 16:16), because Jesus knew that who He is – and could be to us – has the power to change our lives.

What Does It Mean

What does it mean for us?

So, today, right now, Jesus is inviting people to come into his kingdom. He tells us to repent and believe the good news. Repent means to turn around, to live with Jesus in charge instead of ourselves. Believe means to trust that Jesus has done everything we need to give us a place in his kingdom.

By following Jesus you will grow to live a life of deep security, satisfaction, and joy, knowing God and his forgiveness, being helped by his Spirit, and looking forward to the King’s return, when He will finally establish his loving kingdom forever. Jesus freely offers all this to anyone and everyone who repents and believes.

This is how much God loved the world: He gave His son so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.
John 3:16 (MSG)

What does it mean for you?

You probably have an opinion about Jesus. Maybe you think He’s a great teacher or a prophet. Maybe you think He didn’t exist at all. Whatever you believe, we can probably agree that Jesus changed things.

We believe He wants to change you too, and that he’s paved the way back to God for you. Jesus himself said:

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
John 14:6 (NLT)

If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.
John 14:7 (NIV)

Trusting Jesus

Trusting Jesus as the way to God is not an exclusive path to God, it’s completely inclusive. No matter who you are, what you’ve done, no matter where you were born or the colour of your skin, Jesus is the way for you to have a personal and intimate relationship with God. Everybody’s invited. Everybody’s included. Everybody’s important.

If you think you’re an exception to the rule, you’re wrong. Jesus loves you! Jesus died for you and Jesus wants you to have hope and an abundant life on this side of eternity.

If you are seeking freedom, love, hope and peace in a chaotic world then come to Jesus!
